Blackmagic Design
Blackmagic Design is committed to improving workflows across various aspects of production, including video switching and distribution. With industry technologies always evolving, there is ample opportunity to make broadcast content look better now than ever before, while at the same making workflows simpler and more efficient. A prime example of this is using SMPTE IP 2110 protocol in conjunction with SDI. Since the introduction of IP based products a few years ago, Blackmagic Design has been developing a series of products supporting SMPTE-2110. We offer hybrid products allowing users to easily add a 2110 style infrastructure supporting 12G signals using a 10G network environment without the need to change the entire facility. In this presentation, Gary Adams will demonstrate some of these products firsthand, and explain how broadcasters can leverage their benefits in their own workflows.
Gary Adams has been in the broadcast, production and post production industries for over 55 years. He was a video tape specialist for RCA in the late 70s and early 80s, and a co-developer of the TLC, a telecine synchronizing system used in film to tape, and dailies transfer, for over 20 years. A recognized specialist in motion picture digital film restoration worldwide, Gary also worked for DaVinci Systems as the TLC Product Manager, then Product Manager for the Revival Digital Film Restoration System. With Blackmagic Design, Gary is a product specialist for broadcast switching, distribution, and acquisition. He has also been an SBE member since 1984, a lifetime member of SMPTE, and member of the Association of Motion Imaging Archivists (AMIA).
